Our Birds

Here at Stillwater Quail, our coturnix quail are fed a specially-formulated, non-medicated proprietary feed that promotes the development of rich, yellow skin in raptors. Our birds are raised in open brooders and are never confined to grow cages. They’re flash frozen in small batches on wire racks in our walk-in freezer, which is maintained at -6F.

We offer two different sized quail; both are fed the same diet and are raised and frozen in the same way.  Our 5-7oz birds are popular with falconers; these are younger, golden-skinned birds that carry little fat and few, if any, eggs. Our 7-10oz birds are popular with raptor breeders; these are fat-laden older birds with rich, golden skin, and they are sexually mature at harvest.
