Our team

Sam is a master class falconer and prior to taking over Stillwater Quail, he and his wife Katie had started their own quail breeding operation to try and provide their falconry birds and birds in their propagation project, with the best quail that could be made. He and Katie had a dream to eventually move to Montana and only lacked a way to make that move possible. Stillwater Quail came into the picture and upon purchasing the company, facility and property, that dream became a reality. The business is family run by Sam, Katie and their two boys Osi and Tai. We continue to offer the same service and quality you have come to expect and trust. Falconers can count on a high performance, premium hawk food: healthy, nutritious, clean quail. Sam & Katie are committed to producing quail that will enable your falcon or hawk to maintain peak physical health and deliver optimum performance.

our birds

Our Coturnix quail are fed a specially formulated, non-medicated proprietary feed that maximizes nutrition and promotes the development of rich, yellow skin in raptors.

They are raised in large, open brooders and are never confined to grow cages. The birds can move about freely, resulting in excellent plumage and meat that is a rich pink in color. They are flash frozen in small batches on wire racks at -6F in our walk-in freezer and packaged in convenient zippered plastic bags.

Falcon breeders, falconers, and raptor rehabilitation experts appreciate that birds from Stillwater Quail are healthy, clean, consistent in size, packaged conveniently and shipped promptly.

During the falcon breeding season (May through October), a large portion of our production ships to falcon breeders. That’s also the warmest part of the year, which can sometimes pose problems for shipping smaller batches of frozen birds. We encourage our customers to stock up early for the summer.

NPIp certified and ai clean

Our facility/covey has been veterinarian checked and tested to complete our NPIP certification here in the state of Montana. While getting our certification, we also had our covey checked and tested for Avian Influenza and our facility has been certified “AI” clean. With Avian Influenza cases on the rise, we have increased biosecurity in our facility and are on a regular schedule to have our covey tested to assure nothing but the healthiest birds leave our facility.
